ASTRO’s current retail lineup has moved beyond the older A40-vs-A50 framing. Logitech G’s ASTRO catalog now centers on A50 X, A50 Gen 5, A20 X, A20 and A10, with different levels of platform switching, wireless connectivity and software control.
Quick answer: Start with the systems you need to connect. A50 X is built around multi-system HDMI/USB switching, A50 Gen 5 uses PLAYSYNC Audio without the same HDMI video-switching role, A20 X lowers the price tier, and A10 stays wired.
Current ASTRO Lineup
| Model | Connection role | Best reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| A50 X | Premium LIGHTSPEED + base station with PLAYSYNC | Switching among multiple console/PC sources including supported HDMI paths |
| A50 Gen 5 | LIGHTSPEED + base station with PLAYSYNC Audio | Multi-platform wireless audio switching |
| A20 X | Wireless ASTRO model with PLAYSYNC Audio | Lower tier than A50 family while keeping modern ASTRO wireless features |
| A20 | Wireless | Older/simpler wireless tier |
| A10 | Wired | No charging and straightforward wired use |
See Logitech G’s current ASTRO series page. The company’s retail filter currently shows five ASTRO headset models rather than an A40-centered active lineup.
A50 X vs A50 Gen 5
Both use a base-station approach and PLAYSYNC, but A50 X is designed around HDMI audio/video passthrough for supported consoles while A50 Gen 5 focuses on USB-C audio switching. The exact game/chat mixing behavior differs by platform.
Software Support Also Depends on Generation
Logitech G’s current ASTRO software page lists G HUB support for A50 X and A50 Gen 5 and mobile-app support for several current ASTRO wireless models. Older guides referring only to Astro Command Center do not describe every current model.
If you are deciding specifically between the current flagship wireless system and the wired entry model, see the ASTRO A50 vs A10 comparison.
